How Do You Know If You Have Astigmatism? Watch for These Signs
Astigmatism often hides in plain sight—many people don’t realize they have it until it starts affecting their daily life.
Here are common signs and symptoms to look out for:
1. Blurry vision — near or far, or both
2. Headaches, especially after reading or screen time
3. Eye strain or fatigue — you may find yourself squinting to focus
4. Difficulty seeing at night — light glare or halos can be worse
5. Trouble focusing on printed or digital text
These symptoms are often misunderstood or ignored—especially in children and busy adults. But a quick eye exam can provide clarity.
At Enny Eye Care, we detect even the mildest forms of astigmatism early, so your eyes stay sharp, focused, and comfortable.

What Is Astigmatism? Understanding This Common Vision Condition
Astigmatism is more common than many people realize—and it sounds more intimidating than it actually is.
Simply put, astigmatism is when your eye isn’t perfectly round. Instead of being shaped like a soccer ball, the cornea or lens is curved more like a rugby ball. This uneven shape bends light unevenly, causing blurred or distorted vision at any distance.
There are two types:
- Corneal Astigmatism – irregular shape of the front surface of the eye
- Lenticular Astigmatism – irregular shape of the lens inside the eye
Causes of Astigmatism:
- Genetics (most common)
- Eye injury or surgery
- Keratoconus (a rare eye disease)
Can it happen to children? Yes! Children and adults alike can have astigmatism, and early testing is key.
At Enny Eye Care, we provide detailed, gentle exams to detect and manage astigmatism—so you can see life more clearly, with confidence.

Common Eye Defects – What You Should Know
Not all blurry vision is the same!
Eye defects are more common than you think—and early care can make all the difference.
Here are the most common types we see at Enny Eye Care:
🔹 Myopia (Nearsightedness):
You see clearly up close, but distant objects look blurry. Often starts in childhood.
🔹 Hyperopia (Farsightedness):
You see better at a distance, but near vision is blurry—can cause headaches and eye strain.
🔹 Astigmatism:
Blurry or distorted vision caused by an unevenly curved cornea.
🔹 Presbyopia:
Age-related difficulty seeing up close (hello, reading glasses!)—usually starts after 40.
The good news? Most of these can be corrected with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or advanced treatment.
At Enny Eye Care, we offer detailed eye tests to find the perfect solution for your unique vision.
